Driver killed in wrong-way interstate crash

On Behalf of | Jun 16, 2023 | Motor Vehicle Accidents

One of the most frightening scenarios any Tennessee driver can face is seeing headlights coming straight for them. Head-on collisions are among the most deadly types of motor vehicle crashes. They are often caused by careless or negligent drivers who are traveling in the wrong direction.

Deadly head-on collision

Recently in Nashville, a wrong-way driver caused a head-on crash that claimed the life of an unsuspecting driver. The incident happened at night along Interstate 65 between Old Hickory Boulevard and Harding Place. Reports indicated that a sedan was traveling north in the southbound lanes of I-65. According to the Metro Nashville Police Department, the sedan crashed head-on into a southbound SUV.

Tragically, authorities said the driver of the SUV was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. Police said they are not sure where the driver of the sedan entered the roadway and began heading in the wrong direction. Officials are reportedly conducting toxicology tests to determine if drugs or alcohol played a role in the accident.

Getting help

It is impossible to predict when a crash will happen or control the actions of other drivers. Drivers who are distracted, negligent or reckless can cause serious or even deadly motor vehicle accidents that leave victims and families dealing with a lifetime of complications and suffering. The negligent parties who cause these kinds of accidents can be held accountable for the consequences of their actions. By speaking with a seasoned attorney, those affected by the negligence of others can begin the process of obtaining deserved and much-needed compensation.
