Riding motorcycles is a popular form of recreation in the state of Tennessee, and rightfully so. Few things are as freeing as riding down an open road on a warm day. As fun as riding a motorcycle can be, it is impossible to ignore the fact that motorcycles can be dangerous, especially when other vehicles are around. Since motorcyclists are completely exposed, riders have a greater chance of being seriously hurt or killed when an accident occurs.

Deadly Accident

Recently in Nashville, a motorcyclist wasย killed after being hit by a driverย who fled the scene of the wreck. The accident happened along Gallatin Pike near Conference Drive. Reportedly, the driver of a sedan, a woman, was headed north on Gallatin Pike and encountered several other vehicles that were waiting in the left turn lane. She apparently drove around the waiting vehicles, attempted to make a left turn and turned into the path of a southbound motorcycle causing a collision.

After the crash, the sedan driver grabbed a child from the backseat of the car and fled the scene on foot. The motorcyclist was critically injured and taken to an area medical center. Tragically, authorities said the motorcyclist later died at the hospital. Police said they located the driver at a nearby store and arrested her. She was charged with vehicular homicide by recklessness, leaving the scene of a fatal crash, aggravated child endangerment and other serious charges.

Legal Recourse

When bikers hit the road, they never expect to be injured or killed in an accident. Of course, motorcyclists have the same rights as any other driver on Tennessee roads. When a motorcyclist isย hurt or killed due to a negligent driver, victims and/or surviving loved ones can pursue rightful compensation by meeting with a skilled litigator who can assist with filing a lawsuit.
