Apparent routine surgery results in man’s death

On Behalf of | Mar 25, 2023 | Medical Malpractice

Despite what any health care provider in Tennessee says, no surgical procedure is truly simple or “routine.” Any time a person goes under the knife it is a delicate process that must be performed with meticulous focus and care. However, when humans are involved, the chance for errors exist. Patients can be seriously or fatally injured when mistakes happen during surgery.

Alleged surgical errors lead to death

Recently in another state, a man lost his life after suffering complications during surgery. According to claims, the man underwent a surgical procedure to repair a hernia but experienced problems during the procedure. The man’s mother said she received a phone call from the doctor’s office a few hours after the operation and was informed that her son was in a medically induced coma.

Allegedly, the man endured several other surgeries due to injuries he suffered in his initial hernia surgery before eventually passing away. The mother asserts that her son was active and healthy, and she was assured by providers that her son would be fine before he went in for what she was told would be routine surgery. She claims her son was a victim of medical malpractice and has filed complaints with the Florida Department of Health.

Where can victims and families go for help?

There is always a certain level of risk involved with any surgical procedure. It is unfortunate that patients and families must live with the impacts of errors made by doctors and surgeons. Those in Tennessee who have been injured or suffered the loss of a loved one due to surgical errors have the right to speak with a trusted attorney about seeking legal recourse. Damages from a successful claim can help ease the pain and suffering of victims and/or families.
